Hemis National Park is one of the major attractions in Ladakh that pulls a number of adventurists and animal lovers from all over the world. It stretches at an elevation of 4100 meters and covers up the entire Rumbak Valley. The national park is the home to varied species of animals including Snow Leopards and Himalayan birds. The Snow Leopard Trek, which is one of the popular winter treks in the Ladakh region, lies into a territory where human hospitality evanesces and brings forth a wild stretch of rugged mountains dotted with animals like snow leopards, Tibetan wolves, blue sheep, horned sheep and Eurasian Brown Bear and more. It is also an abode to several species of birds like the Golden Eagle, different species of vultures and migratory birds.

Being on the move on the Snow Leopard Trek in Ladakh, one encounters surprises at each turn. The trek allows one to get acquainted with the folklore of Rumbak Valley. It thus brings one to an indigenous territory astir over the savage breath in the midst of the cold desert and gust of freezing wind.

Day 01: Arrive Leh (Complete Rest in Leh for acclimatisation)

On arrival at Leh met our representative and transfer to pre booked hotel for relax and acclimatisation. This is necessary for getting acclimatised at high altitude. Evening one can visit the color full market of Leh. Overnight in the hotel.

Leh: A historic town that served as the royal capital of the Old Kingdom. It is dominated by the nine-story Leh Palace built in the 17th century in the grand tradition of Tibetan architecture. However, it is now dilapidated but being restored.

 

Day 02: Sham valley excursion upto Sangam

Sham valley excursion upto Sangam After breakfast you drive downstream along the River Indus on Leh – Kargil Highway. And start our sightseeing with Hall of Fame (Museum Constructed by India Army) near Leh is worth a visit for every Indian, and proceed further to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib Nestled deep in the Himalayas, A drive of another 4 km took us to Magnetic Hill which defies the law of gravity & further Driving through a picturesque landscape we reached the Confluence of The Indus and Zanskar River. After visiting above places we drive back to Leh enroute visiting Spituk Monastery, Built in 15th century during the reign of Grags ‘bum-lde, these new Gelug-pa monastery was built like fortress on the summit of crags. Later return back to Leh. Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.

 

Day 03: Leh – Phey – Hemis National Park (12400 ft)

In the morning after breakfast, we will drive to Phey and from here our trek will start along the Indus River gorge, a dramatic entry to Hemis National Park. On arrival set out camp for overnight stay at the park. Dinner & overnight at tent.

 

Day 04: Hemis National Park

In the morning after breakfast, we will trek to viewing wildlife with our expert. The Hemis National Park is home to blue sheep, argali (a large horned sheep), numerous mountain and migratory birds, as well as an occasional Tibetan wolf. You are likely to see sign of snow leopard as winter is the time that they descend to lower elevations. Dinner and overnight in tent.

 

Day 05 to 10: Wildlife Viewing

Visit Villages and Home stays from day 05 to day 09, we will trek to nearby sites where snow leopard may have been sighted recently. Visit neighbouring villages, and experience a home-stay. Home stay hosts have been trained in hospitality and are members of a community conservation effort to conserve the endangered snow leopard. At home stay you will feel the culture of the Ladakhi people.

 

Day 11: Trek to Zingchen – Leh

In the morning after breakfast, we will trek to Zingchan and from here drive to Leh. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 12: Leh – Delhi

Early in the morning transfer to airport and from here catch a flight for Delhi.
